Middle Cape Cod Towns - Dennis, Brewster, Harwich, Yarmouth (#295 - 298)
What an amazing weekend to walk towns on the Cape. We started with Dennis (#295) and walked Corporation Beach.
Brewster (#296) - We parked at Ocean Edge Resort and walked the grounds. The main building was built by Samuel Nickerson (founder 1st National Bank of Chicago) as a home for his son. It later became a seminary and finally a resort. Nickerson State Park is named for this family.
Harwich (#297) - After walking along the Cape Cod Rail Trail, I took this photo at The First Congregational Church cemetery, on Memorial Day. Fittingly, the gravestone memorializes Freeman Hall Jr, 27, who was killed at the Battle of Spotsylvania (VA) in the Civil War.
Yarmouth (#298) Continuing our Cape day, we next hit Yarmouth where we stopped and walked at a small park and boat launch along the Bass River. We then kept driving and happened across a Cape Cod Baseball League facility at Yarmouth-Dennis High School. Got our picture taken on the mound at Red Wilson Field, home of the Y-D Red Sox. Chris Sale and Buster Posey, among other famous ball players, played on this field.
